Now that my decision to buy an iBook G4 800 has finalized, I have a few other questions concerning it:
-What is a good wireless router that I can purchase that will go through a pc first, and then to two iBooks on airport cards? (Extreme and regular). Ideally, I'd like it to be around the $100 price range, and not too difficult to set up.
-Is a sleeve really necessary to protect my iBook? If so, what does anyone recommend as a reasonbly priced, and attractive sleeve?
-Where is a good place to buy ram for my new iBook? I've heard that Panther is more sensitive than Jaguar in terms of the ram it accepts, which is why I'm a bit hesitant. I've bought my previous ram upgrade to my older iBook at www.transintl.com and have been fairly pleased with it (good price at the time too).
-I'm pretty sure it is, but just to make sure: Is it possible to use my old iBook's original airport card as a base station (software base station) and than network the AE card to it? Likewise, it's possible to connect to an 802.11b network with the Extreme card right?
-There is a way to mirror the display from the iBook to a tv, correct? How would I do this to a composite tv? (I'm guessing it's composite, it's the yellow, white and red plugs). No S-Video on the tv. What adaptors, wires, etc. would I need to buy? General price?
-Finally, how much and where can I get a Torx Screwdriver? (The one that I would need to unscrew the screws in the interior of the iBook for ram upgrades).
Thank you again for all your help and time.

If you go to the powerbook forum, there's a sticky thread at the top of the forum on recommended bags and sleeves. I use a Waterfield sleevecase for my 12" G4. It fits like a glove, and I'm quite pleased with it--though I do regret not getting the flap option. They have excellent customer service - check them out at: http://www.sfbags.com.

I just bought one of these wireless routers from here:
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.as...c=101&sp=1
It was very simple to set up and should do anything you want it to. This same router is $59.99 after rebate at places like Best Buy. I saved a ton of money buying this one instead of an Airport Basestation.

Here's a thread discussin the video cable solution. Ignore the "Apple AV cable" and look at the "Apple Video Adapter."
As for adding memory, you only need a Phillips and Jeweler's flat blade scredrivers. Here's Apple's take on it.

I've got a basic Linksys router ( http://www.linksys.com/products/prod...5&prid=544) that is hooked up to my Dell PC via cat5 cable, and also runs my HP laptop via wireless card and my G4 iBook via Airport Extreme. No problems running them all at the same time. My ibook gets a great signal -- much better then my HP laptop. Believe you can pick up the Linksys for around $100 or less -- probably deals to be had on the Web.
As for RAM, I picked up a 512MB stick from Crucial. Not the cheapest, but I'm willing to pay a little extra for the reliablity and compatibility. Haven't heard of anyone having problems with Crucial memory in the iBooks.
