What is the color (white or light grey I assume?) of the included S-Video-to-composite TV adapter cable? And how long is it in inches?

(I'm gathering accessories for my future 15" AlBook--including some A/V cabling that MIGHT just reach where I need it!)

Any pictures on the web of all the 15-inch's "stuff" unboxed?

Thanks.

It's iBook white (same as the power adapter, vga adapter, etc) - don't you think they should be metallic?

From the end of one connector to the next, it's exactly 5.75". Taking into account the parts that get eaten by the PowerBook (on the s-video side) and the video cable (on the composite side), it will buy you 5.25"

Hope this helps.

Thanks! Just what I needed to know. I'm making a multi-cable to connect PB audio AND video, and that will help me let all the ends line up in the right place. (And if possible, it will all be white rather than black.)

Just to clarify - you know the audio and video ports are on opposite sides, right?

I'll look forward to seeing a pic of this cable bundle when you're done with it! I'm a real stickler for keeping things like that under control.

All that plugs into my 15" AlBook when it's at my desk (on its iCurve) is power and USB. The USB is connected to a 7-port hub that feeds everything that's not airport or bluetooth - including my speakers via an iMic.

The white power connector sticks out like a sore thumb though. It would be great if it matched the metallic finish of the PowerBook and the USB cable I'm using.

Yes, the ports being on opposite sides is the anoying factor.

What I have in mind is nothing too fancy--just something for giving presentations to TV. A white adapter cable on the left going from audio-out to dual RCA jacks, the white S-video adapter on the right ending in one RCA jack, and a long tri-cable that can be used with either adapter--or both at once--to connect to to TVs, stereos, powered speakers, or whatever comes up.

Ideally the tri-cable will split at the back of the machine and reach the two adapters without a lot of messy slack sitting on the conference table. I'll have to find the right tri-cable (or tear one down the middle--but that tear would keep growing) and the right audio adapter to make the distance work out.

Then coil the whole thing into the smallest velcro pouch I can find and I'll be a lot better off than the mess I carry with my old PowerBook!

So far I haven't even found white cables in stores, although I know I've seen such a thing.

Monster Cable makes one of those, but it doesn't work with the 15" and 17" aluminum PowerBooks, because it's not "split" far enough back to reach ports on opposite sides of the PowerBook.

I think the solution is to find a long enough audio cable. 15" maybe, with 2 RCAs on the end. Then the main tri-cable could connect in back of the machine on the right.

Meanwhile, I've got a box of adapters that will do the job, however messy!
