I know this topic has been covered a dozen times, but I am having difficulty finding the posts, plus this site seems to be crawling this morning.

Simple problem: I got my new 12" PB to replace my iBook and want to transfer some data files over...and maybe a couple small applications. I know there is the firewire target mode trick, don't remember exactly how to do it. Which machine to start first/how, when to plug in, etc. Thanks!

Also, two related questions:
1. how do you restore an iBook to original setup before you sell it?
2. since i didn't get my Panther upgrade disks yet, should i wait to do the data transfer until i install it on the new PB??

You can also connect the two computer using a cat 5 ethernet cable and just set up an apple talk network between the two machines, it's not as fast but it still works.
