I've been having problems with my TiBook for about the past month. I'll be using it and if I go to open a program or browse the finder or what not, it's like the computer will "stall." I'll get a beachball for a few minutes. If I get close to the keyboard, I hear a "click click...pause...click...pause...click click" type sound. Like the harddrive or CPU is trying but is skipping.
This is a huge problem because it causes programs to take upwards of 3 minutes to load up (such as Adium). In addition, if I have iTunes running, it will skip for about 30 seconds.
I am now running 10.3.1., but I first experienced this problem just after I downloaded 10.2.8 from software update. I upgraded to Panther hoping that it would fix it, but it still does it about once a day.
Anybody have any suggestions? It would be hard for me to tell Apple about it becaues it's pretty random.
Here are the specs on my computer:
15" TiBook
1Ghz, combo drive
512MB RAM
60GB Toshiba HD
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I've tried most everything to fix this (repaired disk permissions, reset the PRAM, etc).
