is the extra money between the 14" 933 G4 and the 14" 1Ghz G4 worth it in your opinions??? I also know that the hard disk is 20 gig bigger but over all, if you were going for a 14" which model would you go for???

If you order a custom config from the Apple Store, upgrading to the 60GB HD is pretty cheap, still notably less expensive than the 1GHz model. I would wait a while for the new iBooks to be reviewed and benchmarked, but I'm guessing 67MHz won't make much of a difference in performance You'd probably get better performance spending the extra money on maxing out the RAM.

I would have to agree, maxing out the RAM is of more benefit than the extra 67 Mhz. You'll see a much more significant performance increase off the RAM than anything else.

If you get the faster one like I did, you can max out the ram later if you need to. On the other hand, if you get the slower one, you wont be able to max out it's speed later. Admittedly, 67 mhz isn't much different, but with speed performance lagging on Macs these days, it's best to get the most power you can afford.

I can't see the extra cost between the 2. I would get the 933MHz and max out the RAM and get Applecare. If you wanted to upgrade the hard drive you could do that too. You get more bang for your buck this way.

thats not a bad idea about maxing out the hard drive. Will i void my warranty doing that though??? Its just that i could cancel my order now and order the 1Ghz G4 instead???
bit confused. I already have the 933 maxed out with ram to 640 megs, bluetooth and airport extreme.... i was just wondering if the extra cost is worth getting the 1GHz ibook with 60 gig hard drive with same extras???

The price difference between the 2 laptops with the same options is about $150 not including the tax. I don't believe that 67MHz is worth $150. I did my numbers by having both with Applecare, Bluetooth, Airport E, 60GB hard drive, and max memory. You could always take the extra money and put it towards an iPod.
I would just go ahead and let Apple install the hard drive. I think you would be paying about $50 for the upgrade to 60GB. If you need it now is the time to get it. Down the road it is going to cost alot more to have it upgraded. You won't be able to do it yourself without voiding the warrenty. You will be looking at over $200 maybe over $300 for someone to do it for you and have the laptop be covered under warranty. Is this going to be your primary system? If so it would be worth the extra cash now. You may never use the extra space but depending on what you are doing it could come in handy.
I have an iBook 700 G3. It only has a 20GB hard drive and a CD-ROM. If I want to watch a movie on the go I have to either watch a VCD or make a temporary copy of a DVD to my hard drive. I wish I had an extra 10-15GB just for that reason.
Good luck in your decision. These are only my opinions. The biggest thing is getting what's right for you and your wallet
