There is an interesting Appleinsider discussion on what would be the next powerbook revision. Here are some excerpts:
1. The PowerBook G5 has 2 MCMs with 2 processor each. 4 processor PowerBook G5 with modified 440 core with altivec.
2. It is not a G5 chip. apple call it G5 for laptop.
3. It is a 32 bit processor it will ship next year.
And now take that one:
4. Um, integrating everything makes the power consumption for the entire computer smaller. The processor core tops out at 700Mhz at 700Mhz each core offer 2.8GFlop @ 1.5 Watt.
What do you think people? Could be something reasonable or the guy does not know what he is talking about?

i have been folliwing this thread, and much of it seems interesting...
how real, I do not know...
plausibe? sure...
whatever the case, I wish Apple would hurry up and make it so...
(fat chance..) if Apple did release a multiprocessor 440 or a 'G5ivver for notebooks' I bet it would start shipping about 6 months after the initial 'release date'...(a la current 15" PB fiasco)...

Why do you even bother speculating? Apple is so tight lipped anyway. Just wait and see.

Nr9 is sometimes a troll, and sometimes just poster of inane comments that doesn't quite make trollness. ie. It's option B: "the guy does not know what he is talking about"

Ah, trolls. To think I left them behind in the dpreview forums, oh well.
It is kind of fun to just watch their innane posts...
So how about that new Powerbook G6 scheduled to come out in 2010?
