I'm still pretty much a noob to Mac World...got my PB about 3 months ago. Anyway, I was doing software updates on it...and was wondering about doing the 10.2.8 update. I'm currently running 10.2.3, and would like to get the update...but have heard of people having probs with it. Causing things to crash, dissappear, etc. Was just wanting to get some opinions on it...should I do it, is it "really" risky, what some precautions I should take in case something goes wrong?

Thanks for all the help!

You'll be fine. It's the 10.3 update that most people are having issues with.
I say go for it.

Minty Fresh: Just to help clarify. Yes, 10.2.8 *did* have problems. But it has now been corrected by Apple.

Likewise, 10.3 Panther also had some issues most of which have also been corrected with 10.3.1.

There really isn't much difference in 10.2.3 -10.2.8. If you can afford it, upgrade to 10.3 Panther instead. If you're a student, you can get the Education discount price and Panther would cost $69.00. Not bad at all.

I highly recommend making the jump to 10.3 as well.
