The other day, I spilled some pop on my PowerBook, and a little bit got on the arrow keys, but I wiped it up quickly, and there were only a few dots (for lack of better term) of pop under the keyboard, on what appeared to be the CD drive case. I shut down the computer, wiped up the pop, and tried to disconnect the keyboard ribbon so it would be easier to clean the arrow keys, but I couldn't figure out how to unplug it, so I just let it be.
The next morning, I turned on the PB and there was no picture. I hooked up an external monitor and saw that the computer was indeed working. Then I noticed that, holding the PB at a certain angle, I could faintly see an image on the screen. It seems the problem is that the backlighting of the display isn't functioning.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this, or should I just take it to the Genius Bar at the local Apple Store? (Local is an hour away, unfortunately.) The ONLY thing I touched under the keyboard was the black plastic thing that connects the keyboard ribbon to the board, but perhaps I bumped something else without realizing it?
Thanks.
