after a fresh install of panther I got a 125, now that my hd is 80% full and I have installed many apps I get about 111. Anyone else notice this? I dont understand why cpu scores would go down just because applications have been installed, doesnt make sense to me, not like the processor has been downgraded. Anyone want to shed some light?

It has been noted that Xbench scores fluctuate, the degree to which I am unsure of. Some users however, have noticed fairly significant changes after only a few minutes. In short, my response is that Xbench may not provide consistent results, whatever the reasons may be.

Also, what was your first score?

first score was 125 after a new install of panther, I have 1 gig of ram and the 5400rpm drive as well in my 15" 1.25ghz albook. Since I have all these apps installed now, 13 gigs of mp3's backed up, and 40 gigs of movies I get 111 with xbench

I have always held the view that Xbench is unreliable at best and flawed at worst.

I suspect that the truth may be somewhere in between...

thought I might chime in here...

My 1ghz 15" Albook in stock config pulled down a 93. when I added 512 megs of ram (total 786), I went up to 100.

My harddriver and threading scores fluctuate badly. Somehow, every one of the my scores beat the testbench (dual 800Mhz G4 Quicksilver), but I still scored only a 98.
