My TiBook 500mhz was starting to show a few signs of aging so I decided to send it in for some repair work before the AppleCare expires in Jan. 2004.
Requested repairs:
Combo drive not ejecting media w/o coaxing by slightly prying open the slot. The case had compressed down over the last nearly 3 years due to my heavy-handedness, I guess.
Right speaker not working.
Sent it in on Tuesday, 11/18.
Received it today, Thursday, 11/20.
They completely replaced the case containing the combo drive slot. They also replaced the P12 MLB ASSY(500MHZ), whatever that is.
Speaker is now working fine again.
Additionally, and without my asking, they replaced the rubber feet on the bottom and installed a missing screw.
They also cleaned the entire unit, screen, keyboard and case such that I feel like this baby is brand new.
Maybe I'm lucky, but every AppleCare experience I've had (fortunately very few) has resulted in exceptional and fast service.
Worth every penny, in my opinion.
I hope to get another 2-3 years service out of this baby, unless I am unable to resist the lure of all the goodies Apple keeps offering.
