So I just tried to order a BTO AlPB 1.25 15" through ComUSA and was told that It wouldn't ship until 2009... umm, OK.

They said that was the official word given to them directly from Apple.

Obviously when I place the same order at the Apple on-line store it shows shipping in 10-15 days. So what's the deal?

Anybody know anything about this. I'd like to order the computer today, but not sure what to do. BTW, the reason I'm ordering it with CompUSA is that they're giving me a great deal.

Well, it looks like Apple is not the only company that can't tell its head from its arse sometimes. It's probably a mix up in CompUSA's inventory system, keep asking to talk to someone higher and higher until you figure out what's going on.

By 2009 I would hope Apple isn't shipping any Aluminum Powerbooks...

I ordered mine from Apple yesterday ( SO excited ) and I have a ship date on / before Dec 12. This is perfect for me as I get back home to the States on Dec 11. Hopefully I will have a nice new Powerbook at my door.

Just wait for CompUSA to sort things out. They clearly do not know what is going on right now, if they are quoting you a 2009 ship date.

My CompUSA guy knows this is really strange, but that's the official word that he's being given by his Apple contact. Weird.
