I was given Tony Hawk 4 with my iBook G4 but the controls don't work properly. In the manual it says you jump using 2 but that doesn't work for me, the same goes for the other controls.

Can anybody give me some advise, has anyone else had these problems?

Cheers,

Lawrie

You need to have the "num lock" key (F6) selected. A green light will appear between the F5 and F6 keys. Then, to control the skater, you use the embedded numeric keypad (U, I, and O keys are 4, 5 and 6 respectively). It's not the easiest way to play, but it's what you have to do unloess you buy an additional input device.

I would get a game pad, I have a USB to Playstation adaptor so I can use my Playstation controllers on my Mac. BTW which iBook do you have and how well does THPS4 run on it?

Dracoleb

I'm running THPS4 on an iBook 12" G4 w/Radeon 9200. Doesn't run too badly...stutters every now and then but I do only have 256MB RAM. Maybe someone with more RAM doesn't have my stuttering problem....who knows? (comments anyone?)

Then again, I'm used to my PC playing the same game with a P4 2.66GHz w/Radeon 9700 Pro so I could be being a little harsh....

I've played Warcraft 3 on the iBook and it ran very well indeed....no problems whatsoever. I just think that FP games challenge the iBook which is fair enough considering.....

Not related, but I took my 900 12" iBook to my gaming night bash and used it to play RTCW and it was playable, actually it wasn't bad at all and that little 7500 chipset just kept right on chuggin along. And that was with only 256 in it.

Try playing tony hawks at 1024x768 and turn the fog off (the fog actually seems to make the game slower, not to mention how ugly it looks with it on). Next to a few slow downs the game is very playable and the graphics look fantastic. Oh and the stuttering disapears too.

How awesome! Sounds like the perfect Christmas gift! (for me What brand is your controller? What OS are you running?

Except for the key problems (same as above), it runs very smoothly on my G4 iBook 933MHz with 640MB RAM - and I believe I have the fog turned on still.

ok, i haven't tried thps4 yet, but it sound pretty lame if you're not allowed to change the keyboard controls.

THPS 4 is running pretty well on the stock 14" 1gz. I picked up a $20 Logi tech controller at Comp USA and it works really well. Except it seems to need to be recalibrated every so often.

One of my adapters is from Boom, which is cool because it can register multipe directional pad (left + right) good for Dance Dance (StepMania) I got it from Lik Sang
The other one I have I use for my emulators because it can take two Playstation controllers on one USB port. It just can do left and right at the same time, though that doesn't matter when playing SNES. I also got that at Lik Sang
BTW I am running Panther and it also works on my XP desktop and 2k Latitude
