Hi,
This is not a problem, just curiosity
Someone knows if there's serious differences between matsushita and sony drives?
I have the first one in a combo 667, now again in my 17" 1.33
regards
Guilherme

The best PowerBook SuperDrive brand is Matsushita, because it is the ONLY PowerBook SuperDrive brand.

Slot-load laptop SuperDrives are fairly uncommon.

Hi,
I'm sorry but you can be wrong...
As I read on "Mac DVD Resource Downloads" site, there's a Sony superdrive in some 17" PB's and Ibooks.
I tried to attach a picture of the screen, but don't know how
This is just a small curiosity, nothing important.

I have never heard of any sony superdrives in any Powerbooks EVER. I could be wrong of course but I believe that the Sony drives are limited to the imac's

Matsushita is associated with Panasonic.

That site is incorrect (the fact that it lists "2003 iBook" as having a SuperDrive is a tip-off: Apple doesn't sell iBooks with DVD writers, and the third-party DVD-R upgrades for iBooks are Matsushita drives). The Sony DVD writer listed is a desktop writer, and it's found in some G5s, too, and probably in recent iMacs and eMacs as well.

Matsushita isn't just "associated" with Panasonic: Matsushita is the parent company of Panasonic, Technics, and National (the last one being rather rare in the west).
