Has anyone else come across this problem? I have a 15" 867 and it seems every time I put in MY PCMCIA card reader to read from my memory cad the computer locks up and I have to restart. The problem usually arises after I wake the computer from sleep.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated on what this problem may be.

It was an on-going issue with Powerbook PCMCIA slots from 10.2.4 to 10.2.8 for many users.

If you wait patiently (not attempting anything, including moving the cursor) for up to 5 minutes, the card will eventually mount after the freeze-up.

The issue seems to be resolved in Panther.

Do a search, there's extensive coverage of this (search for PCMCIA or PC Card).

On my Pismo, it wouldn't always "thaw", sometimes the only fix was to restart. As you can imagine, I always ended up just snagging the USB reader off my desktop Mac...
