There seems to be a number of problems with the 15 inch al pb, as I am now going on my 3rd powerbook since they came out. My pervious problems have ranged from bad battery life, white spots, hard drive ticking, bad screen, DVD drive loud, to heat. I received my 3rd powerbook replacement last week Friday and have been playing around with it. I been running a number of tests on battery to see what exactly is happening, and why some people are getting 3.5 hours of battery life and others cannot even get past 2 hours.
I have posted in a thread(http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.p...hreadid=189957) and received enough feed back to conclude that some of the batteries apple is shipping are losing capacity. A number of new powerbook users reported that their capacity has decreased since they received the powerbook. The battery capacity of my own powerbook has decreased a good amount. I compared the battery capacity to a friend’s pb and his has stayed at a constant 4600 capacity for the 3 weeks that he has gotten.

Therefore it seems Apple is also shipping out bad batteries, which makes me really mad.
I would suggest calling Apple up and asking for a new battery, and keep on calling until you get a battery that has a capacity about 4300.

For the new powerbook owners, I suggest you keep along from the first time you start up your computer and test it once a day.
In the terminal paste the following command:
ioreg -l | grep -i IOBatteryInfo

I would just copy the complete output to a document with the date and use that to back up your information when calling Apple.

Good Luck,
Josh
