I was wondering, since there's a spanning patch for the iBook, do you think someone could make a patch to upgrade the resolution?

that would be physically impossible.
I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

it would be nice to have a patch which would mirror second monitor resolution, and have LCD on the ibook turned off. That way you can have greater tehn 1024x768 on a mirror on a bigger monitor

If you use spanning-hack you can have greater resolution than 1024x768 on an external screen.

what i would like to see is a patch so you can run the ibook to an external monitor and have the lid closed (i.e. not have it sleep).

yeah, i thought about that to, it would be a nice feature to be able to watch a movie on a tv with the lid closed.

you can, thing is you have to have a keyboard and a mouse attached. this is called clamshell mode. it is built in.

there was a haxie called nosleep which worked in jag. (up to .6) anyway. i dont know the status of this hack NOW, but i have a feeling that the developer is working on it.

Not on the mirroring feature. I was trying to say, it would be cool to have ability to turn off ibook monitor period and then mirror at a greater resolution then 1024x768

I've heard you shouldn't close the lid while attached to another monitor because it causes over-heating. Apparently, the iBook is designed to vent through the keyboard.

When I attach it to my monitor, I lower the brightness all the way so it stays black on the iBook.

You can, I've been using a dual USB iBook hooked up to a 17" flatscreen at ~1200 by 1024. It's dependent on what the maximum resolution of the external screen is itself. Perhaps whatever you've attached your iBook to can't handle anything more than 1025x768.
Unless you're trying to say you'd like to use the iBook as basically a CPU driving the monitor, rather than spanning across?
