The pb came configured so the Fx keys are defaulted to things like screen brightness, volume control, etc.

How can you toggle it back so they are std Fx keys? Example, in Dreamweaver, i want to be able to hit the F12 key, but right now the F12 it set to expose.

The "fn" key is for that. Just press fn + F key.

But its set right now, so I dont even have to hit the Fn for the brightness, volume control, etc to work.

Basically im asking, how can I use the actual F1, F2, ...F12 keys?

Right. As Necrocool said, pressing Fn+Fkey gives gives you the actual fkey. Press the Fkey alone does the special function.

You might want to look into uControl if you use the Fkeys a lot.

Necrocool told you:

Fn + F1 = F1
Fn + F2 = F2
etc...

In other words, the key with the F1 label on it is not really the F1 key, it's the brightness key. To get F1 you must hold down the Fn key, just like you would if you wanted to use the embedded keypad.

It's king of like the way the 'H' key really types an 'h'. To get the letter that's actually printed on the keycap, you must hold down the shift key.

If you want to use the F9, F10, F11 keys, then you might have to disable exposé, because exposé overrides other functions even if you hold down the fn key.
