I ordered a BTO 12in PB last week
1Ghz
256MB RAM - Adding 512MB more on my own.
40GB HD
Combo Drive
BT
Airport Extreme

It shipped from TAOYUAN CITY TW the boarded a plane from C.K.S. INTL AIRPORT TW to ANCHORAGE AK and now fedEX says it is back in C.K.S. INTL AIRPORT TW. I live in Washinton state and I did not expect my powerbook to ship from Taiwan this is not a problem but I paid for 2 day shipping and now it seems I don't know when I will get my Powerbook. Fedex says that the Estimated delivery date is today the 1st by noon but, I can't see if it is in Taiwan how can it be in washington at noon today.

Any suggestions? Where did your ibook or PB ship from?

"Any suggestions? Where did your ibook or PB ship from?"

Ya don't worry. All orders from Apple directly come from overseas.

Also FedEx's tracking system is messed up allot and it is VERY unlikely that it was hipped back to Taiwan. One thing to keep in mind is that most people dont get their computers any quicker with 2-day than regular, since its going air anyway.

I would not worry. Its not guaranteed it will be at your door today but most likely its not going back to Taiwan.

I got my PB last Friday. It came from the same place yours did. It took one week to get here from time of shipment to home delivery. That included a 3-4 day FedEx mechanical delay in Taiwan.

Thanks again for the Info!

It still says it is in Taiwan. They have scaned it 8 times all saying C.K.S. INTL AIRPORT TW. I really expected it to get here today but, it does not look like that is going to happen. What is the point of paying for 2day shipping if they don't come in 2days. It shipped 11;35am Thanksgiving day so that mean's it had Friday, saturday, sunday, and today to get here. I know sat and sun don't count as days to fedex but I have shipped things 3 day tons of time on friday and they come on monday.

Thanks for the info, you know I have just spent $1500 on this and that is a TON of money to me I saved for a long time. I just want it here. Well I hope it does not have problems. Knowing my luck half the screen will be dead.

I am in nashville, TN and paid the extra $$ for 2-day delivery and from when I recieved the shipment notifcation from Apple it took 2 days to get here from Taiwan just like it should.

If you paid for 2-day delivery and are not getting it, then call Apple and have them refund the difference between what you paid for 2-day and what regular is. You are certainly entitled to a refund and you can sure bet Apple will be collecting their refund from FedEx. Call them and make sure they pass your share on to you

Oh how did you know it was a "mechanical delay"?

Also, madmacgames thanks for the idea I will be calling apple. If it does not come today.

that's wierd, my PowerBook (12in, SuperDrive, 256 RAM, 40 Gig, APExtreme), did the exact same route yours did ... strange.
An iBook G4 I ordered with it, didn't do the Anchorage bit. Must of been a Taiwanese thanksgiving thing or something ...

Mine currently says "in transit" I have no clue what that means but I am going to call apple tonight and tell them the need to give me my $24 back for 2 day shipping it shipped on Thursday and it is monday and it has not even left the country. What time did yours reach ANCHORAGE AK mine was at 3:43PM Nov.30th I don't even see a thing for Dec.1. I am pretty sure if a Airplane left at 4:59PM from taiwan yesterday if would be out of fuel by now. Fedex tracking is so **** up.

Good luck on your PB. I know once we get them we will be happy.

same date and time of arrival to Anchorage. Nov. 30th, 3:43pm.
please post your results after you call apple for the refund. I'm on long distance, so calling Apple isn't very tempting.

I will be sure to post it. I am just really frustrated right now. I don’t know who to be mad at Apple or Fedex or both.

Be mad at FedEx. It's almost always the shipper's fault when things like this happen. So call Apple, explain the situation, and let them know that they need to get the difference in shipping costs back from FedEx so that they can give you what's coming.

If they don't help you, then you can be mad at Apple.

In my experience when this has happened with OTHER companies, I've always been able to get a refund of the difference in shipping costs with very little hassle.

mine didn't pass customs either, however an iBook I ordered on the same date, was shipped later, but it did passed right through customs and already arrived to FedEx's NY facility.

This reminds me of when I got my 12-in PB last February. I became an expert on time zones, etc.

Keep in mind that the two-day shipping starts when the computer is in this country. Seems unfair, I know -- but Apple and Fed Ex count the two-day part as starting here, not when the package is shipping from Taiwan.

That said, I understand your anxiety. Hope your PB gets here soon!

Let me guess ... Indianapolis ?

The Ironic thing (for me) is that the iBook got shipped 2 days after the PowerBook and it was successfully delivered today, and the PB is still in customs ... damn !
