I've been a Mac user now for about 3 days! I love my new 15" PB. BUT, I 'm having problems with transferring my files from my CD-RWs to my Mac.

The discs include Word and Excel docs (from my W98 PC). I have Office X installed on my PB. When I insert the disc, it recognizes most of my Word files, but none of my Excel files (gives me an icon with the name, "non-allocatable list"). Also says the disk is "read only."

Any ideas/solutions?

Would this be a solution: use a blank formatted on the Mac to copy/save files on my PC, then move to the Mac?

Thanks for any help/ideas!

Try burning it to a CD-R and see what happens.

Well, after some more research it looks like I may have to invest in Toast. I assumed buying a computer with a CD-burner would allow me to use CD-RWs!

You have to make sure you close the CD to future burning. We have this problem at my work all the time. People Burn a CD-RW with out closing it and they have problems reading it from other computers.

also make sure you record them as Track-at-Once on the PC ... (and NOT as Disc-at-Once).
Else Mac OS X won't read it.

Thanks for the help. I'd like some clarification, though. How exactly do I do that, Sarc and bovie?

Also, will this work? Format new CD-RWs on my Mac, copy files onto them on the PC, transfer them to the Mac.

If not, what can I do to access the files? Thanks!
