Others have noticed this and thought it was the hard drive making the light beeping and buzzing noises on this machine. After, getting a G5 Powermac at work. I experimented with the CHUD tools (disable nap mode) fix for it which worked great on the Powermac. I got curious and tried it on the Powerbook 15" Al and it worked. Noises are gone. I'm not sure if this is old news but I haven't seen it anywhere. Apple apparently recommends you don't do this on a Powermac but no one has been able to determine a reason it might hurt. On the Powerbook it would likely reduce battery life but the noise is worse plugged in and if you find yourself in a noisy environment and where you don't mind decreased battery life or you're plugged in, this might be just the trick. Pretty annoying this seems to be a "feature" of new machines now. Apple claims it's the Powermac power supply and has replaced some but user reports indicate this hasn't solved the problem.
