I ordered my first revB 12” at the beginning of October, which like quite a lot of you here took ages to get to me. When I eventually got my hands on what has to be the most beautifully designed packaging it has ever been my pleasure to open, I removed my powerbook to find that the case was severely twisted.

I spoke to apple about it they offered me a straight swap for a new one which I was happy to do. I backed up a few documents, packed the powerbook back into its beautiful box and sent it away.

After waiting for another couple of weeks a nice shiny new powerbook arrived on my door step (and wow! This one had Panther)I started happily using this one enjoying the new features in Panther. But alas after a few days, a system crash and a power down my 2nd powerbook was totally dead, no power at

This dead powerbook was sent away to what I thought was a repair company, 5 days later I had a phone call from the company telling me that my powerbook would not turn on and had no power (‘really I didn’t know that!’) and that it would have to be sent to a repair company which could take a long time, but they offered me the option of a replacement. I accepted the offer of replacement and dutifully awaited powerbook 3’s arrival.

That was two weeks ago.
Today I received a phone call from my parents (who I do not live) saying that it had been delivered there today, so I will not be able to get hold of it for a while now
Not sure how apple managed to do this, as I’ve had six products delivered to the address that I currently live at with no problems.

I’m starting to feel like I’m not meant to own a powerbook now
I hope that when I finally get my hands on this one that it is fully functional!

Oh I’ve also managed to get an iPod with a defective docking cradle

Just wonder if anyone else out there is having the same bad luck as me??

I know this doesn't help but I appreciate hearing about other people's problems because they make mine seem almost minor by comparison!

Sorry not much help I know.

That’s ok I wasn't looking for any help, just having a bit of a vent really

Glad that I can make some else’s situation seem better!

try to live in the UK and have delivery delays by a factor of 4.

I must be the luckyest guy around or I do not get it. Pretty much, I'm in charge of any computer system bought in my lab. During the last 6 months 2 iBooks, 1 eMac, 1 TiPB, and one 1.6 G5 PM.

All of them perfect when opened and working fine.

The only system right now that I would avoid (until 2nd generation) would be the 15" AlPB

Me too...I'm in charge of my entire (extended) family's computer exploits.

3 Powerbooks (400 Pismo, 400 Ti, Ghz Ti), one iBook (600), and one eMac (SD 800) later I have not had one problem. Ever.
