Please Help I need answers tonight...

I'm posting this in the PB thread because I would like to hear from PB users of VPC.

I know I can buy a cheap PC that will out perform VPC for the same $$ PRICE.

I don't have the space for another computer my dest has a dusty iMac 500mhz I will use it again once my PB addiction ends...

I love my PB it has been doing a lot of my website redesign

All I want VPC for is to look at my website changes in IE 6 or what ever is out on the PC side.

I would like to check the Google PageRank

and some other small surfing related stuff

So what is faster on this PB?

VPC = XP Pro, XP home, Win 2000?

XP home is a few bucks cheaper... I could be buying an iPod right now with that money

by the DOS version of VPC, and install your own copy of Windows 2000.

if you need to buy the preload OS, buy win2000. XP slows VPC down.

Or at least turn off the candy-colored XP theme. XP runs faster for me now that I've done that.

I'd recommend Windows 2000 Pro with Service Pack 4.

What about win98, it has less of a footpring then win98? I assumed that it would be faster.

I work IT on the PC side and haven't noticed a significant slowdown when going from 98 to 2000, I would recommend 2000 over 98 any day, just make sure you install a version with SP3.
