Hi,
I'm trying to hook up my girlfriends iBook to my Klipsch promedia 4.1 speakers. Obviously with 4 speakers I have 2 connecetions that normally go into my sound card on my PC. But the iBook only has 1 connection. I have a splitter that I've used on CD players to allow pluggin in 2 head phone sets but that only plays mono to each channel. AKA what is happening now is my front left and rear left speakers put out sound, but not the other 2. Has anyone here hooked up 4 speakers successfully to your iBook? What hardware should i use instead of this splitter? Is there something that will work? I'm gonna get an iBook myself soon hopefully, and it would suck to lose the right channel! hehe Thanks!
Dave

Ya I use it with my crappy altec lansing speakers 4 speakers and a sub, I have them hooked up to a splitter (splits 2 ways) as well they all seem to work fine for me. You might want to swap the connectors on the splitter it's probably just a loose connection/contact.

Or you could get something that gave you multi-channel out on the iBook. I have an emagic emi 2|6 (which is now the a2|6 I believe) which gives me six channels of output... That's more of a pro device, though. I'm sure you could find some consumer-priced devices out there.

There's also the Griffin PowerWave which might be a bit cheaper than the M-Audio stuff - if price is a factor.

I use my Creative 4.1 system fine with an old splitter from a different set. It was to hook it up directly from your gaming system like an xbox (there is another attachment that has no use now) So if your sticking to the splitter idea, the cheaper idea, it does work.
