Heads up everyone:

http://guide.apple.com/redirect/king...4ram_pdad.html

I wish I had seen this earlier. Those are great prices, seeing as I just paid $270CDN for a 512mb SODIMM for my 12" PB. Cheers.

P.S. Maybe this should be a sticky?

145usd (Kingston) vs 129 (crucial)

For goodness sake their prices are outragously high. The 1GIG stick for the 17"PB is still $854.00 U.S. after the 25% discount. That's not a deal, that's a steal. They are stealing from the consumer. Most places regular price is $600.00 U.S.

Hiya. I ordered it from Westworld on Center St and 10 Ave North. It was $259 + tax. Ordered it Friday and it arrived Wednesday. I think most places in town sell it for $269. I've always had good results with Kensington memory for PCs so I figured I'd go with a name I trust for my new Mac. The lifetime warranty is nice too. Regarding the 1 gig chip, no idea. There are US prices on the first link in this thread though and if I remember right, the 1 gig chip was ~$600US. Lotsa $$. I'm happy with my 768mb.

I just got a 512MB HighSpeed memory stick for my 12" PB from 1-800-4-MEMORY with a lifetime warranty for 109$.
I am not sure how much is that when you convert it to Canadian dolars but it sure is cheaper then what you paid for. And Kingston memory is nothing really special.
I tried buying generic memory before I got HighSpeed and it was 89$ for 512 (I'm cheap I know) but my computer started crashing as soon as I installed the RAM, so I just replaced it and got this one. No problems so far.

Here are quality Samsung 512MB PC2700 333MHZ 200 PIN DDR SODIMMs for only $99 each (Samsung is one of the OEMs that Apple uses for their system Memory).

http://www.memorysuppliers.com/sa51pc33200p.html

I've dealt with them many times. They have a 30-Day money back guarantee (from when you receive it), same day shipping, and a lifetime manufacturer warranty on the memory, of course.

just out of curiosity i'd like to see a performance comparison between the different ram manufacturers. get some real world tests to see if an extra $20 is worth it.
