Despite numerous posts in the past about batteries, none seem to answer these specific question... I hope people may be able to answer these or at least offer some thoughts, esp re the NewerTech battery.

My Ti Powerbook G4 667 is now 2 years old. Battery life has lowered to around 1 hour (give or take 10 mins depending on activity!). I have tried all theories such as fresh install of Panter, resetting PMU, drain battery, full recharge etc. etc. but still battery life is minimal. I'm guessing now then is the time to buy a new battery.

My questions then:
Although AppleCare does not now cover batteries, I am aware that at one point it did. As I don't have all the docs with me, is anyone able to say whether AppleCare purchased November 2002 covered batteries?

If I do need to purchase another, do people recommend either an Apple replacement or the NewerTech battery, which claims to have an increased capacity (of around 10-30%)?

If the NewerTech, does anyone know of a UK supplier? Have not had a reply for Newer or the US stockist.

Many thanks,

Andrew Baker

Damn, editing doesn't bump it up. Does anyone have any comments on the NewerTech battery?

I havenīt any comment on the Newertech but AppleCare should give you the opportunity to get a new battery. I bought AC in May 2003 (Tibook 667 DVI) and my local dealer confirmed that EVERY hardware failure (including worn out battery) is covered under AC.
