In comparison with previous PowerBook models (unless one goes back to the G3 Firewire), I have the impression that there is a great deal of play in the trackpad button in the present model. This tends to generate quite a bit of noise through reverberation in the housing whereas the computer otherwise runs silently and superbly. Has this been a problem for others? thanks in advance for any forthcoming feedback

I can't compare it with another Powerbook, but I do have an iBook 600 G3 and the trackpad on it seems much more 'stable' than the Powerbook. The Powerbook's felt flimsy in a way - I was playing with it at the Apple Store yesterday...

So my impression is that it is a bit flimsy - not sure why?
