Hi,
right now I have a G3 800 iBook, and "i'l lovin' it".
I'm goint to Greenland for a year with the Danish Navy, and I'm planing to upgrade to a new iBook when i get home. (spring 2005).

At this time the iBook must be updated, but how big do you think it will be at this time?

Merry christmas,

Mathias from Denmark

It's really pointless to try to guess what computers will be like about 2 years from now. Things change so fast, it's impossible to say.
My best guess is cheaper, faster, and smaller. Beyond that, who knows?

It's never pointless to imagine about the future.

Sure... no one knows, but I would imagine, the upgrades will be about 4 times better than what has taken place over the past 2 years of iBook evolution. Even the duration between the iBook 466 SE to the last G3 model... it took just over 2 years to grow 434mhz, go through several case revisions, chips, boards, etc...

Now we have a new iBook class with the G4... which I imagine could still be the standard for the iBook in just under 2 years, but at least a 2.2Ghz chip, insanely large harddrive (which may not be neccessary as compression gets better) 2GIG Ram... superdrives will be the standard across the apple line... basically... a current powerbook on steroids.

I don't think you're going to see a superdrive in an ibook anytime soon. Apple won't do that because it will cut into their profit margins too much.

You're more likely to see a faster G4. I would fathom that the iBooks will get an upgrade when the powerbooks get a major revision.
