i've got the 15 1.25 with one stick of 512 ram. hoping to upgrade soon to 1 gig (total). wondering if any of you have noticed a decrease in battery life (hrs of charge) after upgrading to 1 gig of ram. any thoughts?

Nah, the battery life hit is minimal, not even noticable. We're talking maybe one or two minutes total from a full charge. The performance gain, however, is trememdous! You'll really notice it with games and apps like Photoshop.

I have to agree, the battery hit is so trivial as to be non-existent. I went from 256 MB to 512 MB on my powerbook and there is a night and day difference in everything. Now to wait until I can afford a 1 gig stick and a 7200 RPM hard drive...Hooooooot!

It is even conceivable that your battery life increased with more RAM installed... It all depends on how much virtual memory paging you were seeing... Disk activity takes more power than memory.

this is all good news. i'm looking forward to having a gig of memory. when i called applecare about my screen, i also mentioned the less than stellar battery life. they asked if i'd upgraded ram (as if it made a difference). i'm glad to know it doesn't. so after i get it back from apple, i'll be placing an order with crucial. thank you all for the info.

btw, are you going to send your pb in for the hard drive upgrade, or do it yourself?
