Does anyone have any experence with the two together? How well can the 12" drive one? Can you operate it with the lid closed?

I am using a 12" with ACD 20 at the office and they play very nice together. You can use the 12" with the lid close.

I've got a PB12, but there is no ADC connector, how exactly do you connect? Do you have an adapter? It'd be great to use my 15" Apple panel with my PB12. I'd be very interested to hear the specifics. Thanks!

You have to use the DVI to ACD Adapter in order to connect use the Cinema Displays. On PB12, you would use the miniDVI in addition to the adapter mentioned above. Hope that helps out.

Thanks for the pix. Right now i'm using two computers, a G4 Dual and an iBook 12". I would love to get down to one, and love the size of the iBook for taking notes in class, etc.

I just received a new PowerBook G4 12" 1 GHz machine for xmas--it is the Combo Drive edition. However, I already had a 15" TiBook 1 GHz with Superdrive. Which shall I keep? In other words, which is a better machine? They are both 1 GHz, RAM is not an issue, the TiBook has more VRAM and a slightly better video card but the size of the 12" is just too addictive to let go of--it is cute, compact and easy to carry to lectures and seminars. How feasible would it be to get an external DVD burner and a large external monitor to use with the 12 inch. The 12 inch is a lot more durable than the 15 and I haven't really noticed any decrease in speed, so I might just go with it, video card notwithstanding.

What's confusing is at the Apple Online Store it doesn't show the G4 PowerBook 12", but shows every other system is supported. I see two connectors going to the PB in the photo. I only have the mini DVI female on my PB12. If that is connected to the monitor adapter, where does the other DVI male from the adapter go?
I'd buy one of these in a heartbeat, if I knew for sure it would work with my PB12!
Thanks in advance for any clarification.

As long as the 12" Powerbook you have is the 1GHz model it'll work fine.
If the above is the case you would have received a small 6"-long adapter with your PB which plugs into one of the two plugs which comes from the ADC->DVI adapter. This leaves one plug left over on the same cable (the one you're seeing in the picture you've linked to). This is a USB cable which you need to plug into your PB in order to have the USB on the 15" display work.
Does that make sense?

I guess I'm screwed then. I have a 7-month old 867Mhz 12" PowerBook. On the port side, I have a mini-DVI.
I wonder why know one would make an adapter to use it with the Apple Cinema Displays?

Actually, the Rev. A 12" didn't have DVI, it had VGA output.
Edit: Milien, that is the EXACT setup I want to create with my 12" PB. I am glad that the Bookendz folks have announced that they are going to have the Rev. B 12" dock for sale next month, as it would make it for much easier setup/takedown.

They do - but the VGA -> ADC adapter you'd need goes for about $300 as far as I know and even once you've plugged it in it won't give you the same image quality as you would get normally (it's going from analogue instead of digital the whole way through).
All is not lost, though. There are some very nice VGA LCDs which you could get instead of plugging your 15" in. That's if you're not closed to the idea of buying another one, of course.
