Every once and awhile my 15" Albook will start to tick on these random intervals. Some people say its the hd, but I dont believe its the case. Its coming from the top area and not the lower middle, maybe my hearing is off but could it be the airport card, has anyone really narrowed it down to what it could be, if an app could trigger it etc. Any input is welcome.

I thought the left palmrest is wherre the hd resides, is that where the sound eminates.

On some Pb models (mine included) the speakers makes sounds like crackles or sizzling is that the sound your hearing?

I think the left palm rest area is the battery for the 15" PB. For the 12", it is the HD.

Could it be heatpipe for CPU cooling?

on the 15" albooks the hd is in the middle, right underneath the trackpad, lower right is the superdrive, lower left is battery. As far as your heat pipe suggestion I really dont know. I am just curious as to what it is. I dont hear it all the time, just once and awhile, thats why I am curious now. I am thinking its the airport card, but thats just a shot in the dark.
