I just got a ibook G4 and am worrying about running it over night. If I leave it on encoding video, with the lid wide open, is there a risk of overheating? Thanks for any input...

Nope, shouldn't be a problem. ALWAYS keep the area around, and underneath your iBook free to breath though. NEVER do long term, intessive stuff with your book on the bed, for example.

What you want is something called a coolpad:

This will allow air to move underneath your machine. Keep good clear space around it too, and you shouldn't have a problem!
