Greetings. Lately I have been having very bad crashes on my 1.33 ghz 17" Aluminum Powerbook.
Everything will freeze completely (weird based on my experience of OSX so far, which has seen crashes only of individual apps, albeit rarely). A window will come up telling me that I need to restart the computer. One time after restart it froze and gave the same command on 2 subsequent reboots. (one time after login, line code started appearing over my desktop followed by a total freeze).
I have noticed 2 things. One is that if I let the computer rest awhile, it will boot up ok (makes me think it could be a heat management issue with the processor? Except I have done heavy video editing and never had any issues). The second thing I have noticed is that the flaky behaviour seems to have started each time wwhen I was running iTunes. On a song change it would blip a few times and then give me the window telling me to restart the computer.
Does any body have any direct experience regarding these types of issues, or perhaps some helpful thoughts or suggestions?
I would really appreciate any input you can give me as these tyopes of massive freezes are a great concern.
Many thanks!

Had the same issue with the same computer until I replaced the generic third party RAM stick I initially upgraded with to a branded Kingston module. Other than that the only thing I can think of is a logic board issue.

Hi. Sorry to hear about your troubles. I had annoying problems with iTunes, mail and other software when I upgraded to 10.3.2. Basically the programs would refuse to have anything to do with any saved data. I've since gone back to 10.3 and everything is running sweet. Your problems sound more like hardware and much more serious than mine, but after my troubles I'm suspicious of iTunes and 10.3.2 . . .

hikouka,
How can you go back to Jaguar from Panther to see if the incompatability is in the OS?

My 17" came with Jaguar preinstalled and I bought the Panther upgrade disks. So after I ended up with strange things happening with 10.3.2 I reinstalled Jaguar from the original disks that came with the computer. Then I upgraded to 10.3 and everythings fine, except I'm too scared to upgraded to 10.3.2 again . . .
