Hey all,
I screwed up royally! I was minding my own business when a buddy calls to tell me he's purchased an "open box" 40G Ipod from BB. He can't get it to work so he wants to come over. He brings his POD and PC laptop. Things are not going well. Since I have airport base I show him how I can share my music, all 20G. I leave to take a leak and knucklhead has hooked my perfectly working IPOD to his machine. I don't know what the heck happened but not only does my IPOD not work, it is empty! all 20G of music gone! Oh, and that ain't all, my I-tunes library is empty also. 3600 mp3 songs gone!

What can I do? I've tried to reset the IPOD, I've reinstalled the software but when I connect it to my 17 PB, the IPOD drive mounts but it doesn't show up in I-Tunes although the program does pop open. It appears the IPOD will do an I-synch with my calendar and contacts....but no frickin' music....
Can I get my library of tunes back or am I screwed? At this point, I just want my IPOD working again...I do a lot of air travel and those Bose are schweet!!!

Sounds similar to what happened to my GF. I bought her an iPod for Christmas, and we used my Powerbook to set it up, and she put about 5 GB of music on it. She was so excited. Now she didn't own a Mac at the time (she just got a AlBook a couple days ago)...so since she didn't own a Mac, when she got home...she hooked it up to her PC, and I guess since it's being setup for Windows...it had to reset everything...and she lost all the music. Then she couldn't get it to work with iTunes, or Music Match afterwards. She is going to reset it, and try it with her AlBook tonight...so if she finds something, I'll let you know.

Have you searched your hard drive for the missing mp3s? I don't see how connecting a different iPod would wipe the mp3s from your HD. Are you sure your friend didn't make a new library or new playlist?
