Lombard batteries crapped out (both!) -- how to recondition?

The title kinda says it all. It's suspicious because both batteries took major dives in battery life at the same time, yet they are not contemporaries. One battery won't take or hold any charge at all... these degradations came on all of a sudden.

Is there a way to "recondition" these batteries? I apologize -- this must be covered in a number of threads, but I canna find 'em!

I've already tried resetting the power manager by the way.
