I sent my 15" AlBook into Applecare two days ago and today the status website says "Hold: awaiting part." The phone rep didn't have any further information. Has anyone got a new LCD from Apple recently? Has anyone's computer been "held" for a long time awaiting this part? The other thing they're repairing (replacing) is the battery... I really hope that's not the part they're waiting for!

It took a leap of faith to give my computer up in the first place... now I'm just trying to figure out how long this is really going to take. The semester starts on Monday!

Thanks,

Hey man read the sticky. That's like swearing around here! Good luck though - I'm jealous that you can just take it back to the store.

Tooki you have me very optimistic now...

I'm in Italy and sent it up to AppleCare in Denmark. 3 day turn around and I got a perfect screen but... they scratched the screen lid/case in two spots and the plastic trim was warped or not seated well. It's back up there now for this fix and I should have it back Monday (in perfect condition)

I still have to send mine in...and if it's like Tooki says, that makes me very happy. But I wonder if they are in short supply now...how long it will take for them to get back in stock?

Got my last run ti back in threee days back in Nov. I had the same thing on the status page and it didn't change to being done or complete (whatever they write) until a couple of hous before the computer arrived. I have found that they don't keep that updated very well.

Like Crusoe they messed up when they fixed the screen. The trim around the screen on the inside didn't line up with the cover on the back of it ((lines up along the egde of screen) and it didn't it together very well. When I caled back they turned it over to a product specialist. After talking to him he wanted to know if I could live with it or did I really feel the need to send it back. I politely explained that after spending over 2k for this PB I was going to send it back. Geez........

Anyway the scren has since been perfect and haven't seen any signs of the problem reacurring. the product guy did say that unofficaily they got a real bad batch of screen from Samsung but he couldn't confirm it officially. thought that was kind of funny.

Well today (Jan 10) the status website changed to "repair completed" and "shipped." I called Apple on the phone to get a tracking number, and lo and behold it arrived at my apartment at school YESTERDAY (Jan 9) so it must have actually shipped Jan 8.

Moral of the story: your repair is probably much further along than the website will admit!

Let's just hope it doesn't come back with any of the problems people here are always talking about... uneven illumination, poorly reassembled keyboards, scratches, stuck pixels, etc...
