Apple found a permanent solution for logic board failures?

I am reposting this information from another topic that I started, so that people do not miss this information that may be useful.
I am also curious to hear if my repair experience is an accidental one or this is indeed a new solution from Apple. Only time will show if my iBook equipped with a new video card (and double the VRAM) will have a longer lifetime.
FYI: this was a second logic board replacement (December 2003), first one was in April 2003. iBook was bought in June 2002.
READ BELOW:
------------------------------
It appears that NOW APPLE IS USING DIFFERENT LOGIC BOARDS to replace the ones that fail in iBooks.
The difference (at least for me) is another video card.
Native video card of my iBook 700/Combo/12.1" (May 2002 update) was ATY,RageM6 same as ATI Radeon Mobility with 16MB VRAM.
Now after logic board replacement in December my iBook 700 has ATY,RageM7 same as ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 with 32MB VRAM (used in iBooks from November 2002).
I am not sure if this is an "accident" or a permanent solution found by Apple for failing logic boards in iBooks.
Anyway, a free upgrade for my aging iBook. I wonder if it will do monitor spanning now. Will check tomorrow.

I have an ibook 700 (ATI mob 7500) 16vram, 1 logic board failure so far.
The problem affects all ibooks 2002-2003 apparently.

I have to correct myself.
Getting a better video card during logic board replacement was not a solution from Apple, as I suggested. As AppleCare told me today, they installed a wrong logic board by mistake. Don't they know what they are doing there?
This led to an incompatibility of this new hardware configuration with OS 9 version (it is hardware-specific) that came with my iBook:
1. Inability to sleep in OS 9.
2. Small display image in OS 9 (and also in 10.2.0).
Two weeks after last logic board replacement it is back to repair facility. I hope they will put the correct logic board this time.
Very frustrating.

So, are you losing half of that gained video memory? Would a reinstall of OS 9 help, or does it simply not have the driver for this (apparently) newer video "card"/logic board?

Tried clean install - was the same.

That is sad. I just got a friend on the phone who wants me to sell my Ibook to him. I was sincere to him, and I won´t sell it , because of that problem (which hasn´t happened yet). Its an opportunity to sell it, but not that way.
