After contemplating the switch for some months, and being in the hunt for a good laptop...I finally ordered a 15 inch PB the other week.

First oddity was that the PB shipped from Taiwan...which I then found to not be odd at all.

Then I found that the tracking number apple provided only tracked the package from Taiwan to Indianapolis. Then, under a separate (unknown) tracking number the package was sent from Indy to my door in Virgnia. However, I WASN'T HOME at the time! That's sucky.

So I'm off to the Fedex location on Saturday AM to pick it up...hopefully all will be well. Patience, what a lesson.

I had a good shipping esxperience with Apple (unusual). I ordered my PowerBook about a week ago. The person set it up and took my credit card number and said it would be 3-5 days, no biggie. But then on Monday I got a call saying the credit card did not go through, and could I provide another-needless to say I was a bit upset to hear it hadn't even shipped yet.

Well the next day, after the Keynote, I called home and my 'book was there! I raced home with a gig of RAM for it, installed that and all is well (except for Mail.app).

So overnite works for me!

I have been waiting for my Powerbook since Dec. 23., and the machine shipped last tuesday. To my surprice, I haven't noticed any change on the tracking service, but discovered today that the tracking number was only for tracking the machine after it has arrived in Europe. Using the tracking service provided by kuehne-nagel, I was able to track the computer from Taiwan to Luxemburg today, so hopefully it will arrive next week sometime.

It seems to me that the 15's ship considerably slower than the other PB's. (Probably due to demand, and original screen problems).

I ordered a 15" PB superdrive at the start of October. It still wasn't shipping when December arrived. I called up Apple, upgraded to a 17" PB and it was shipping in an hour (went through on credit card).

It seems a little weird that they're shipping to Europe from Taiwan, you'd think they'd have some sort of presence in Europe.

I just recently(Jan 12) ordered a 12"PB online from the ADC Store. The order page said that shipping would occur 1-3 business days later. I went with 2-3 day shipping.

My order is still open, from what I understand that means that my order has not left an Apple warehouse. I am not up to date on Apple's shipping integrity, or order status honesty. (The last time I remember ordering a computer it was the B&W G3, still in use back home by the way, and I was much younger.) Will they come through quickly for me? Or will I be banging my head on my class desk or on the keyboards of the computer lab's windoze machines here on campus? I wish they would not put those inconclusive dates on my order. Just say it will be here in 2 weeks if that is what is going to happen! Not "1 to 3 days, and then maybe 2 to 3 days, so overall give us 3 to 6 days, but then it might not be there so just sit tight". Agony, indeed.

Also, when do I recieve this tracking number? I suppose that it will be provided once my order has shipped.... Anyhow, I'm just impatient, and looking for some feedback from those who have been in my position. I'm just letting out some steam!

Thanks all!

All of this leads me to wonder, why do you folks all order from Apple directly, when the resellers have a much better record in terms of timely shipping? Is there some other benefit I'm not conscious of (like better service and repairs) that pertains here?

Please enlighten me.
