Well, so much I love the PowerBook G4 12", it decided to not return the good karma and it finally broken unusable... Long story short:

1. First months of use, very hot, not as much battery life as expected. I can live with that.

2. Later, rubber foot fall off. Not much of a problem really, I can order new ones or buy me silicone ones.

3. A bit later I discover the "9" key is super-sensible, and it triggers without even pushing the key, just bare touching it.

4. Finally, two days ago the hard disk died, almost lost important info. SMART state reports errors.

Hopefully I am under warranty, so I hope all these issues to be fixed (the hot issue is somewhat fixed with the 10.3.2 update). But I am left with a bitter taste about Apple quality controls, to say something polite. My last Mac (the one I am writting this with) was a Sawtooth that also broke under warranty (mother base) and I had to wait two months for the replacement piece, and now with Panther I am forced to use the OEM old ATI card instead of the flashed GeForce2MX I bought for it.

Really pissed, sorry for the rant but I really think Apple should spend a bit more money into quality control instead of making "mini" things that only have "mini" in the name...

sorry to hear that, man. I have a 12" Rev. A powerbook, and I am amazed at how problem free it is. It seems like every rev. A 12" had major issues!

I've had my 12" for a little over a month now, and the only noticeable issue I see is the wobbly frame, which was very slight. I put the guilty end over a table and pressed down with my arm, it has fixed the problem ever since. The aluminum sheet near the latch-release is bulging out just alittle under 1mm, but it is not too noticeable.

I really hope I don't have any more serious problems - reading these threads makes me paranoid!

Sorry to hear about your problems. I agree that apple's quality control seems to have gone down a notch or two over the past years. More fluff, less substance. I hope you get your problems worked out.
I live my life one cool toy at a time.
