Avoiding PowerBook static shock?

I wear a jacket with fleece lining. I take it off when I get into my room and I *ALWAYS* get shocked when I first touch my PowerBooks. Is there anything that I can do to stop this? Is there something that I can touch to stop the sparking? It's not very comfortable to get zapped multiple times per day.

Thanks.

You'll be shocked either way. When you were fleece you end up building up a static charge, and it must be discharged someway or another. You can discharge it by touching a door handle, but you sill still be shocked,

Spray your jacket with static guard. The spark might still be there, but not as bad.

What if I get a humidifier? Would that decrease the static electricity due to the humidity in the air?

this has happened to me twice this winter...
went to open my pb, a small shock, and...
kernel panic!

had to restart.

now i just touch everything else first...

I find that you can usually discharge yourself by touching one of the screws on a light switch. I usually do that, or just make sure that I touch my PC first. And yes, a humidifier would help too.

I had a fleece jacket once but I kept getting shocked too. I ditched the jacket. Meh!
