My brother is looking to get a new computer. Either a 900 mhz G3, or a 800 mhz G4 ibook. How noticiable would the speed differnce between the two be?

For what its worth..I saw a 800 mhz ibook on Apple's RED TAG sale place on their website.

I think only 749 bucks!

Not bad!

The difference wouldn't be that big... except for decoding audio/video (iChat, Divx, ...)

If he can afford it, get the G4 iBook, it doesn't seem to suffer from the logic board issue of G3 iBooks.

Don't mind the speed between the G3 and G4. The G3 has been prone to failure with the logic board and video. By all means try to get the G4.

I was wondering the same thing and figured that getting the newer processor would be the best idea, even if it does cost a little more. Oh yeah, the rest of the machine will be update tech as well.
