My ibook 500 finally decided to take a dirt nap yesterday. It no longer boots what so ever. No sounds at all. However, it gets all warm and fuzzy like it is on when I push the power button and the stupid lights for the caps and num lock buttons come on when pressed.

Is there any hope?

Sounds like the logic board. Try putting pressure on the left hand side of the track pad whle booting up

Does not work.

When I say no boot, I mean no boot. No sounds comming from the ibook at all. No hard drive, no fan, no nothing. Silent!

take out the battery and unplug it. it sounds like its just locked in sleep mode somehow. This happened to me once, and it took some fiddling to get it to come back on. It was weird.
