I need some advice. I have a PowerBook G4 400 that qualifies for Apple's PowerBook trade-in program. After talking to Apple today, I can get a $700.00 credit for my PowerBook trade toward the purchase of a stock new PowerBook (excluding the 12" models). I also qualify for academic pricing which is $300 off the price of a PowerBook. However, the two deals cannot be used together.
I was thinking about selling my PowerBook for like $600.00 to someone who could then use it to trade-in on a new PowerBook, thereby getting $100.00 (net) off their purchase, if they wanted. Then I'd take the $600.00 and apply it to my academic PowerBook purchase and have a net savings of $900.00.
Does this sound like it would work? Anybody see any problems with this arrangement? Anybody have any other options to consider?
