i have a 300MHZ ibook with 128mb's of ram and a 5400rpm 20Gb HD, and i am trying to use it as a DJ mixer / jukebox. The problem i'm running into is that no matter what i do or what song i play, is that when i am crossfading over from one song to the other and both songs are playing, the music starts to get very choppy and it doesnt stop until the crossfade is complete. i'm thinking it has to be a problem with the onboard sound card in the ibook. anyone have any ideas of what else it could be? i will be trying the software out on a friends 400MHZ Imac this weekend to see how that reacts to the crossfade. The software i've tried so far has been "Mplay" and "disco" for OSX i havent tried the OS9 version of "Mplay" or "disco" yet, maybe i'll try that too.

Although I am no pro here, I'd guess your iBook just can't take the pressure the crossfade puts on its CPU. Your specs would hint at that: 128 mb ram is definitely not enough for OS X and a 300 mhz G3 is also slow. See if the software performs better on a faster mac, then you should know.
