Hey All,

So i've tried everything.... but my ibook 600 (640 ram) will not start up.

The only way it will work is if I start up with the os x CD - but when I click disk utility, the computer will not even find the HD.... what should I do? can i press something on the keyboard.. restart something?

any help would be huge.

thanks,
emalen

If Disk Utilities does not see the hard disk, things do not look good. You hard disk may have died.

Try this :

- boot in Open Firmware (hold command-option-O-F during boot)
- enter the following commands :

reset-nvram
reset-all

If the iBook does not start, try to run the hardware test CD and see what it says...
