Hi,
My blueberry clamshell iBook (300Mhz/544MB/3GB/AirPort/Panther) display is now shows as pink. I bought a new battery last summer. It runs Panther fine and fits my needs.
Option 1: Stick with the pink screen (don't spend a penny)
Option 2: Get a new screen/send it back for repair (it could be $200 - $300 I believe)
Option 3: put it on eBay.
What should I do?

There might be a fourth option. You could look for a replacement LCD on eBay and do it yourself. The iBooks and the 12" Active-Matrix Wallstreet all use the same screen, so you should be able to do a straight replacement. And it shouldn't cost much either. Do some searches on this board a bit - I think I remember someone doing this same thing a few weeks ago, so don't just run in blind. If you can find a replacement screen for $100 or less, it's a better option than any of the three you listed. You won't be able to get much for it (no more than $300 with the pink screen defect), professional repairs are an arm and a leg, and who wants to live with a discolored screen?

Thank you for your input.
I did a google search and took a look at the following site
Screen for iBook - $249
"We stock the Samsung 12.1-inch TFT SVGA LCD for the original iBook. There are 3 different LCDs that were used in the Original iBook (Clamshell) and they are not interchangeable. The brand of LCD can only be determined by removing it from the display assembly."
Hmm... I believe that stuff from pbparts.com are overpriced. However, they said the screen may be different depends on my iBook config. Looks like I have to break the iBook apart to see which brand is it since Apple does carry 3 different brands of display for the original iBook (IBM, Samsung, and LG).

Yes, PBParts.com is very overpriced. They can be a good place to find obscure PowerBook parts if you can't find them anywhere else... but one time I "assembled" a Pismo there by adding up the cost of all the components for a Pismo and the cost came out to over $3000.
If it's $250, it's not worth it. But I don't think it'll get a whole lot worse if you take it apart to check, as long as you are careful. Once you know the model you can search on eBay for one, perhaps.
