So, I've never had my fan come on.

I ran hardware test, the fan works there.

Right now I'm compressing MPEG-2.

The CPU is pegged at 100%.

No fan, and it's been on 31 minutes.

Grr.

If this is the 10.3.2 issue, what can I do to remedy this? My Powerbook is 1 week old, I don't want to melt it.

I thought the problem was the fan staying on!

TIA

OK,

Temperature monitor just said I'm 144+ degrees F.

I quit the render.

Now what do I do?

I'm guessing 144+ F is no good.

I bought the Powerbook at an Apple Store here in Atlanta.

Is nearly 150 degrees F too hot? Do other people have their 15" fan come on?

Well, not sure if this is any help but you know the back strip of the machine, behind the hinge but in front of the Fkeys?

My fan comes on only when that area is only just bareable to hold.

So its very hot. And CPU useage has to be 100% for about 20mins for this to happen.

PB1.25Ghz.
