I have a Titanium PowerBook (which I love) and it is plugged into a powerstrip. Sometimes the powerbook is charging or it is charged but plugged in...and all of a sudden the green or orange light on the charger turns off...but the it is still plugged in to the power strip. The power strip has a switch so I turn it off and on...and the the light on the charger turns on.

I started experincing this when I plugged into the power strip an external monitor....and this was happening constantly, so I switch the monitor to a different outlet and the problem stoped fo a while. But this days I have been doing some MAJOR downloading and I have to leave the PowerBook plugged in during night and day. Is this healthy for the PowerBook? Is the something wrong with my power supply from my computer? Or I have a crapy powerstrip?

Thanks.

Sounds like either your charger is faulty or the LED light on the plug is faulty. I had a problem with a charger on my new PB a few months ago - it would power the PB but not charge the battery. At first I thought it was a battery problem but it was a faulty charger. Apple replaced it under warranty.

used to happen on my 15"albook too. I have been told on another forum that it was a problem with the type of powerstrip I was using which did not have protection against a power-surge. I bought a more expensive powerstrip and it hasn't happened since. Also this never happens when plugged directly into the wall.

Happens to my 15" AlBook too. I'll have Apple look at it some time though.

This is a known behavior. It is in fact the adapter's built-in protection, which powers off if it detects power problems.

See http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=32155 for details.
