Ok, I am not sure what to do. Amazon has the $100.00 mail in rebate. So I am going to buy a new unit from them (no shipping, no tax, etc.).
So, is it worth the extra $200.00 for the 1ghz machine?
It has a 60gig versus 40 gig & bigger processor.
Price doesn't outweight benefits, but what about resale value? It will probably hold value better due to breaking the ghz barrier right?
also, I will be buying airport ex. card with either machine, plus extra ram.
So I am looking at $1499.00 + $95.99 + $100.00 (512 chip from crucial) for the 1ghz = $1699.00 - $100.00 mail in = $1599.00
Or
$1299.00 + $95.99 + 100.00 (512 chip from crucial) for the 933 unit = $1499.00 - $100.00 mail in = $1399.00
What are the pros & cons and the general opinion?

You're always going to need extra HD space, and since putting a replacement HD into the iBook is a major hassle, not to mention voiding the warranty, go for it. Finances willing, naturally.
Or, go for the 933 mhz, and devote the $200 you've not spent to getting a firewire minidrive that you can use for backup and whatnot. Maybe even an external DVD burner?
There's a lot to be said for saving money now so that you can buy the G5 laptops once they come out.

That's my line of thinking, too, as I save for an iBook.
Since I'm not a hardcore gamer and don't plan to do too much processor intensive work, I can live with the miniscule Mhz difference and apply the savings towards aftermark RAM and an external DVD burner.
I really think the 933 is the 'best bang for your buck' option.
Of course if opportunity presents itself, I'd spring for the 1Gz model.
