hi

i just plugged a external firewire 400 case with a maxtor 80gb 7200 drive to my new 15al. the transfer rates are just 3mb/s in processmonitor. transfer of 15gb needs more than 1 hour. 600 mb need 4 minutes. thats crap.

now i tested the internal fujitsu 80gb drive. it only gets 6mb/s. thats slow.

there are 2 partitions on it 40/40. the second is really full. the first got 10gb free.
does it need defragmentation? i read pros and cons about defrag on hfs+ drives.

any hints?

thanks

bjoern
