Hi,

The 24th comes and nothing happen.

Not even in apple web page there was something about macintosh 20th anniversary and new products, like PB G5 or other one.

Maybe they are waiting until monday, more audience :-)

Can Apple do nothing to celebrate this important date?

Best regards

Yep, annoying isn't it?

To celebrate MWSF they released.....no new macs.
To celebrate the 20th anniversry......no new macs.

And personally I wouldn't expect a PB G5 anytime soon, though I'd love to be proved wrong. In the world of computers you can easily wait forever for something better, because there will always be something new and shiny around the corner.

That said i'm still waiting for the new PB revision before I buy, but I don't care if it's G4 or G5. (just as long as it's new + shiny )

no, we gotta wait till the SuperBowl to see if Apple comes out with a new ad compaign, and associated new products...

I, too, am in a waiting game on buying a PowerBook... have my sights set on a 15' puppy... waiting to pull the trigger... but, if I get one now, and in another 3 months or so, the G5 comes out - that will be painful... especially when I hear about folks running GarageBand on their IBOOKs and PowerBooks, and having to throttle back on what they do (less simultanous tracks/loops) - since their Mac isn't quite powerful enough...

can't wait either way to experience a Mac... have test drove them in the Apple stores... very fine machines, indeed... no doubt that OS/X is a most excellent OS... can't wait to get a trully fine multitasking environment (Unix) versus what I am currently using (XP)... hope that I can actually print a document and at the same time not have delays in whatever else I am doing (unlike what I see with XP on my admittedly underpowered PC - 550MHz PIII Dell)

later - gotta get to work!,

I "pulled the trigger" on the 14th and bought a refurb 15" 1.25 SD model from Apple's web store's "Special Deal." I got it on the following Saturday morning. Very nice. No screen or latch problems in evidence yet after almost two weeks. Nice to save $400.00 over new.

I only had one issue. I had to roll back from the Panther upgrade, however, and reinstall from scratch with the recovery disk. Reason for that was my DVD playback suffered a hit after Panther. I had uneven horizontal lines during fast motion transitions. I tried the freeware VLC media player with the de-interlacing filter, but I was satisfied with the quality. Proper DVD playback was more important than any of the coveted new features in Panther, which I had a chance to test drive. I'll wait and try again once Apple acknowledges this DVD playback problem and posts a fix.

Cheers!
